What happens in the Good samaritan ?
A sick man is lying on the side of the rule, a priest and levite both pass by him but don’t offer any help, even thought they would be expected to help, a samaritan then walks past and helps the man despite him being a different religion to the samaritan.
What is the meaning of the Good Samaritan?
Love your neighbour even if they’re your enemies
How does the good samaritan affect christians today?
If people followed the good samaritan then there would be less rivalry among people as they would see eachother as neighbours. This would lead to peace in society and the world.
What happens in the story of the lost son ?
A father has 2 sons, one of them asks for money and disappears for many years, there is a huge famine and the son comes home to his father. The father forgives him and welcomes him home.
What is the meaning of the lost son?
God is supposed to be the father and the son is supposed to be humans, this shows that God forgives us if we ask and always welcomes us.
How does the lost son affect christians today?
Following the lost son would lead to greater forgiveness and rconciliation at all levels in society. Revenge and anger would be replaced by people moving forward together; improving and learning from mistakes.
What happens in the story of the sheep and the goats?
Jesus talks about the seperation of sheep and goats and talks about how people would give Jesus what he needs buy may not give to those who need it most.
What is the meaning of the sheep and goats?
We are called upon to act on our beliefs. Loving God also means loving our neighbour and doing practical things to uphold the dignity of all people.
How does the sheep and the goats affect christians today?
Christians are encouraged to serve God by serving others, especially those who are most in need. Catholics can put this teaching into practice through participating in the work of local charities.
What is the meaning of the Golden rule?
Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
