Teacher of wisdom; Repentance and forgiveness. Flashcards
+ Forgiveness
‘For if you forgive people when they sin against you, your heavenly father will also forgive you’ (Matthew 6:14)
+ The fulfilment of the law
Must obey the law, but equally must not harbour aggression against your fellow man
‘…anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgement’
‘You have heard that it was said, “Eye for an eye, tooth for tooth.” But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to the the other cheek too’
‘You have heard “love your neighbour and hate your enemy.” But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you’ (Matthew 5:17-48)
+ Parable of the Lost Son
Don’t be resentful of jealous, love etc.
‘This man receives sinners and eats with them.’
‘we had to celebrate and be glad because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found’ (Luke 15-11:32)
