TD 52 Flashcards
What stage of hypoxic hypoxia occurs when there is 89%-80% oxygen saturation and occurs between 10,000 and 15,000 feet PA?
Compensatory stage
The circulatory can to a lesser degree provide some defense against this stage. characterized by drowsiness, poor judgement, impaired coordination and efficiency. crewmembers preoccupied with tasks may easily overlook hypoxia at this stage. (3-04.93 pg. 2-19)
What effective spatial disorientation countermeasures can a flight crew take to mitigate the risk?
Understand risk factors
employ good aircrew coordination
assess the mission’s environmental factors
Do not attempt visual flight below established weather minimums
Maintain proficiency in instrument flight
Trust your instruments
in the event of SD, reference instruments and ignore conflicting sensory inputs
(3-04.93)
What does the term degraded visual environment mean?
A state of reduced visibility whereby spatial situational awareness and aircraft control cannot be maintained with the same precision as in normal visual meteorological conditions. 3-04.93 Pg. 9-2
Define NOE, contour, and low level flight.
NOE: varying altitudes and airspeeds, as cloase as vegetation and obstacles permit. For NVG training, up to 25 feet.
Contour: constant airspeeds, varying altitudes conforming to earth’s contours, 25 to 80 feet
Low level: constant airspeed constant altitude constant airspeed, dictated by threat avoidance, 80 to 200 feet 3-04.4 pg. 5-3
