TD-191 Martin ✔ Flashcards
What are the navigational source lateral deviations per dot on the ADI: VOR, ILS, ILS Back Course, TACAN, and FMS Enroute?
Lateral deviations per dot on the ADI:
- VOR: 5.0 deg
- ILS: 1.25 deg (dependent on ILS facility)
- ILS BC: 2.5 deg
- TACAN 5.0 deg
- FMS Enroute 2.0 deg
You are flying VFR cross country as the pilot not on the controls when you experience Inadvertent Instrument Meteorological Conditions. The pilot on the controls has done all of his steps in accordance with the crew mission brief and ATM. As the pilot not on the controls you are responsible for squawking Emergency. What is the fastest way to squawk emergency without using the FMS?
IFF EMER switch (right switch) on Emergency Control Panel lower consol FWD (to IFF EMER).
What are the types of Hypoxia and their descriptions?
Hypoxia results when the body lacks oxygen
Hypemic
Reduction in blood`s oxygen-carrying capacity (Blood loss or Carbon Monoxide poisoning)
Stagnant Inadequate circulation (G forces, Heart failure predispose individuals to stagnant hypoxia)
Histotoxic
Interference with the use of oxygen by body tissue (alcohol, narcotics and cyanide poison)
Hypoxic
Not enough oxygen in the air or when increasing atm. pressure. (Partial pressure PO2)
What are the oxygen/altitude requirements for flights in an unpressurized aircraft?
10-12K 60 min
12-14K 30 min
>14K - All on Oxygen
What are the four common techniques for executing a procedure turn (course reversal)?
At what point should the turn be commenced, and what type and rate of turn should an aviator use?
- 80/260
- 45/180 (time for 1min, for cat A & B)
- Holding/ Racetrack, as depicted
- Teardrop
The point at which the turn may be commenced and type and rate of turn are at the discretion of the aviator (less than 200KIAS).
Turn to side as depicted by the Barbed Arrow (maneuvering side).
Remain within “remain within” distance as described, normally 10NM (5NM Cat. A / COPTER).
What are the problems that could happen to the 701D engines and the DEC/ EDECU if a lightning strike occurs?
How far should we circumnavigate thunderstorm cells by?
Could loose engine control and electrical power. Might go to max power without temperature or overspeed protection. Might shutdown abv 120% NP without re-ignition capability resulting in flameout w/out restart capability.
Circumnavigate thunderstorm cells by at least 20NM(.203 pg 8-24).
Questions 7 thru 9 refer to the Cairns ILS or LOC RWY 6 Instrument Approach Procedure Chart provided on the next page.
If for whatever reason the altimeter setting for this approach was unavailable, are you still able to fly the approach based on the last altimeter setting received?
No, barometrical vertical NAV not authorized unless local setting recieved (95-1).
What is Chan 34 in the Localizer Navaid Box used for and where can I find the frequency for it?
Chan 34 is the DME freq.
DME frequencies pairing table is published in FIH.
What does the “I” in front of the localizer identifier represent?
“I” indicates a localizer and a Tacan channel which signifies DME availability (.240 pg 4-15).
