THEME of Romans
Righteousness of God in Salvation
THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD FOR SALVATION
Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
UNBELIEVERS SUPPRESS THE TRUTH
Romans 1:18
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
GOD’S WRATH TOWARD THE UNRIGHTEOUS
Romans 1:18-32
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived…
WITHOUT EXCUSE
Romans 1:20
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
GOD’S KINDNESS LEADS TO REPENTANCE
Romans 2:4
Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
NO ONE SEEKS FOR GOD
Romans 3:10-18
“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”
ALL HAVE SINNED
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
PEACE WITH GOD THRU JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
DEATH SPREAD TO ALL MEN
Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned-
OLD SELF CRUCIFIED
Romans 6:6
We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
CONSIDER YOURSELVES DEAD TO SIN
Romans 6:11
So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
NO LONGER SLAVE NOW OBEDIENT FROM THE HEART
Romans 6:17
But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed,
WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, FREE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
NO CONDEMNATION
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
THE SPIRIT INDWELLS THE BELIEVER
Romans 8:9
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
THE SPIRIT ASSURES US OF SALVATION
Romans 8:16
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
THE SPIRIT INTERCEDES FOR US
Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON
Romans 8:29
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
GOLDEN CHAIN OF REDEMPTION
Romans 8:30
And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
NOTHING WILL BE ABLE TO SEPERATE US
Romans 8:35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER SALVATION
Romans 9:1-29
As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” … “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.
CONFESS AND BELIEVE TO BE SAVED
Romans 10:9
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
