Q

Self Defense

A

Operators enter modifiable ABT self-defense criteria in Tab 1, page 5.

The Patriot weapon system no longer supports automatic engagements of ABTs. However, entering a one (1) in the SELF DEFENSE CRITERIA data field results in the system alerting the operator when a track meets the criteria in Tab 1, page 5.

The ABT self-defense method of fire (MOF) causes the system to automatically illuminate the desired MOF S/I for hooked tracks that meet the ABT self-defense criteria.

The alert “nnn SELF DEFENSE THREAT” is generated by processing in the trhreat assessment logic that determines which track is an enemy threat to the FP.

What are the IFF responsis

A

Not Interrogated no response ivalid valid valid ambiguous or invalid amiguous

34
Q

Not interrogated

A

the track has not been interrogated

35
Q

no response

A

the track did not respons to interrogation

36
Q

invalid

A

Track failed to repsond correctly

37
Q

valid

A

the code received matched the code intered in tab 73 valid mode 4/5 will create friend symbol on the display and will not allow further introogations

38
Q

Valid/invalid ambigous track

A

multiple tracks are responding and so unclear of which track answered

39
Q

What are IFF conditions

A

EMEr IP GARBLE Mult-Reply Spoof

40
Q

EMER

A

IFF transponder has emergency switch on

41
Q

Garble

A

interogations result in two or more responses

42
Q

Mult replay

A

interogations result in two or more responses

43
Q

Spoof

A

applies only to mode 4 when ECM is detected in the IFF frequency during an interrogation response

44
Q

Track range

A

Absolute requirement for an engagment, depending on what track it is you want to be in the right range. The further out requires more radar resources

45
Q

if range cannot be provided via trangulation the ecs operator can still conduct an engagment on a range denied taget via

A

SEM

46
Q

the two methods deriving range in STROBE EnGAGMENT MODE

A

Defualt range, range estimate

47
Q

Jammin targets with sufficent power can be range denied to patriot what happens when this occurs

A

the track is processes as a strobe track with only elevation and azimuth

48
Q

what is the normal means of countering range-denied targets

A

triangulation

49
Q

System estimates range method

A

•System estimates range method:

50
Q

using range estimate

A

•Operator estimates range method:

51
Q

when will you use strobe engagment mode

A

when anatomymous

52
Q

can pac 3 missiles be used in strobe engagment mode

A

no

53
Q

what is the pupose of brevity code

A

a universal word to shorten the message

54
Q

what are rules of engagment

A

ROE are directives issued by a competent military authority delineating the circumstances and limitations US forces will initiate and continue combat engagements.

55
Q

standind ROE

A

•Standing ROE, including rules on the inherent right of self-defense and supplemental measures for mission accomplishment, as approved by the Secretary of Defense (SecDef), are found in Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

56
Q

Approved ROE for mission accomplishment

A

•applicable to a specific mission, are found in the mission’s respective warning orders, execute orders, operations order, operations plan, ROE serials, and special instructions (SPINS) section of the ATO.

57
Q

who is responsible for the ROE

A

Joint forces commander

58
Q

weapons safe

A

The recommendation is that all operational/loaded launchers assigned to the subordinate FPs be placed in the OPERATE state and initially the WPN SAFE or AUTO/SEMI S/I be set to ON or SEMI (GREEN).

59
Q

When given authorization to engage a TBM/ARM,

A

•all firing platoons should transition the WPN SAFE or AUTO/SEMI S/I to the OFF or AUTO (RED) state.

60
Q

weapons safe state off

A

allows the battalion coorination of the engagment and prevents over engagment of the threat

61
Q

Manually engaging a threat bypasses what

A

certain automatic ngagments that could lead to over engaging the target

62
Q

why should weapons safe state off with TBMs

A

less time needed to engage TBMs

63
Q

operators only preform manual engagments of none threatening TBMs win

A

when directed by the controlling authority

64
Q

standard method of fire for missile engagments is

A

moddified ripple

65
Q

what is overlapping coverage

A

convergant

66
Q

how do you activate intercept dynamics logic

A

TAB 44 and set alternate ATM2/ATM3 engagments data field

67
Q

What is ERS

A

early realease submunitions

68
Q

ABT Engagment techniques

A

•When authorized, RADCs, SADCs, AWACS, or other assets controlling DCA and other air-to-air capable aircraft are delegated engagement and identification authority IAW current ROE

69
Q

ARM Engagment Techniques

A

•To survive the ARM threat, Patriot has several capabilities and features to address each of the phases of the ARM attack.

70
Q

What is frequency diversity

A

changes the frequency consistantly so the ARM cannot lock on

71
Q

what is reduced search

A

not looking as far or high

72
Q

What is low power

A

limiting radar to one TWT

73
Q

how do you classify ARM

A

upside down A

74
Q

two preconditions must be met

A

TRACK DOESN EXCEET RANGE LIMIT, TRACK DOESN’T EXCEED rcs LIMIT

75
Q

three set test of arms are

A

splits from known arm carrier, track altitude and acceleration during ascent phase are within Arm limits for minimum period required, dive angle

76
Q

Arm threat warning

A

indicated arm idetification has been assigned and is not a self defense threat

77
Q

arm carrier alert

A

the system provideds an alert ARM Carrier that indicated the target is an ARM carrier based of local or external data

78
Q

Arm attack alerts

A

ARM Attack the wepons sontrol SI must be selected by the tco to receive arm alerts

79
Q

ARM Launch detected

A

when a target detected from a launch has been verified and passes certain condition
