“White” (Pale) Complexion
Cold Patterns
Deficiency - often Blood or Yang
Hemorrhage
Syncope (fainting)
Pale, White, Bright
Qi Deficiency
Yang Decifiency
Pale, White, Lusterless or Sallow
*lusterless = lacking shine or glow
*sallow = unhealthy yellow or pale brown color
Blood Deficiency
Suddenly Pale & Dropping Cold Sweat
Collapse of Yang
Somber White
*somber = dark & dull; tinge of blue-green
Occurring suddenly: Fulminant Desertion of Yang
W/ chills, fever, etc: Wind Cold
W/ acute abdominal pain: Cold Pain
Red Complexions
Heat (generally)
Whole Face Red
Excess Heat
Pale Face w/ Cheeks Red
Deficiency Heat
Rouge-Like Redness Wandering on Pale Face (Floating Redness)
False Heat Upper; True Cold Lower
Bluish (or Purple) Complexions
Wind Cold
Blood Stasis
Pain
Any severe stagnation in body
Dark Bluish
Epilepsy; Child Fright Wind
Blood Stasis Binding in Inner Body
Heart Yang Deficiency
Bluish Somber White
Wind-Cold Headache
Cold Pain
Dark Bluish-Purple (Cyanotic)
Blocked Lung Qi
Yellow Complexions
