TBL 5 Flashcards
How do you calculate sensitivity?
TP/(TP+FN)
snOUT–> A negative test rules OUT the disease
How do you calculate specificity?
TN/(TN+FP)
spIN–> A positive test rules IN the disease
What is the difference between multiplex PCR and routine lab methods?
Multiplex PCR: cost-effective, time efficient, able to test for antibiotic resistance simultaneously, mass pathogenic testing in one shot
Routine: able to detect Salmonella and C. difficile better since they have more selective media/growing conditions (?)
What is a t test used for?
Used to determine the difference in means of two groups
What is a chi squared test used for?
Compare the diff of categories
What is a disadvantage of probiotics?
Harbor some of the resistance plasmids -> over to other organisms (makes them pathogenic -> superbugs)
