If CURB65 = 0-2, what antibiotics should be given (CAP)?
1g amoxicillin PO three times daily
200mg doxycycline PO on day 1 then 100mg once daily (IF PENICILLIN ALLERGIC)
If CURB65 = 3-5, what antibiotics should be given (CAP)?
1.2g co-amoxiclav IV three times daily + 100mg doxycycline PO
500mg levofloxacin IV twice daily (IF PENICLLIN ALLERGIC)
In severe HAP/aspiration pneumonia, what antibiotics should be given?
IV amoxicllin + metronidazole + gentamicin
IV Co-trimoxazole + Metronidazole +/- Gentamicin (IF PENICILLIN ALLERGIC)
In non-severe HAP/aspiration pneumonia, what antibiotics should be given?
PO Amoxicillin + Metronidazole
PO Co-trimoxazole + Metronidazole (IF PENICILLIN ALLERGIC)
What antibiotics should be used for an acute exacerbation of COPD?
1st line: Amoxicillin 500mg three times daily
2nd line: Doxycycline 200mg on day 1 then 100mg daily
What antibiotics should be used for native valve endocarditis?
Amoxicillin and gentamycin IV
What antibiotics should be used for prosthetic valve endocarditis?
Vancomycin and gentamycin IV, followed by rifampicin PO
What antibiotics should be used for drug user endocarditis?
Flucloxacillin IV
What antibiotics should be used in a non-severe C.diff infection?
Metronidazole PO 400mg three times daily
What antibiotics should be used in a severe C.diff infection?
Vancomycin 125mg four times daily PO +/- IV metronidazole
