Basic Needs

This is the “11th” category of taxonomy and refers to specific audiences
Population
These are the 5 types of taxonomy terms used
service terms, named programs, organization/facility type, modality/delivery type, target audience terms
These are non preferred terms which point to the preferred terms to be used instead
Use References (ie Domestic Violence Shelter versus Abused Women’s Shelter)
These terms must be linked to another taxonomy term, referring to specific populations, and will not be linked to services with an implied audience
Target Term
Use this searching method in icarol when you know the name of the services to find
Resource Names
Use this search in icarol when you want to find all of the services for a particular issue
Taxonomy search
This is a manner of searching taxonomy to suit the needs of your caller where you search through the alphanumerical code sections
Hierarchical Drill Down
This is another way to search taxonomy where you look through a list of terms to find something that suits your caller’s needs (the list is alphabetical and may not be possible to use in all searches depending on specific need)
