Justification to discharge the Taser 7?
-protect human life,
- protect yourself or others where violent confrontation or violent resistance is occurring or imminent,
- protect an officer/s in danger of being overpowered or to protect themselves or another person from the risk of actual bodily harm, or
- Protection from animals.

What is the users preferred target area for the Taser?
The back/rear of the body is the most preferred target area when reasonably practicable.
-Contains larger muscle groups
-Reduces risk of hitting sensitive body areas.
Target Below Neck (green zone)

▪ Avoid head and neck.
Why target the lower Torso?
(green zone below chest)
More effective than hitting the chest.

▪ Reduces risk of hitting sensitive body areas
▪ Increases dart-to-heart safety margin distance.
▪ Do not intentionally target head, eyes, throat, chest, or genitals!
What is the secondary target zone for the Taser?
The front of the body is the secondary target zone.
How is the maximum effect achieved when discharging the Taser?
One probe above and below the waistline of the subject.
What does the CEW cause in the body?
Primarily affect motor functions and/or the sensory
nervous system.
Causing Neuro-Muscular Incapacitation (NMI)
Do not draw your Taser, point it, or aim it unless?
Unless you consider you are likely to be justified in using it.
Where circumstances dictate the drawing of a Taser from the holster to cover a subject, the Taser must be?
Immediately armed upon removal from the holster by moving the safety switch to the (Fire) position.
