Detect-designed to execute the target acquisition decisions made in the decide phase
Deliver-executes the target attack guidance and support the commanders battle plan once the priority targets have been located and identified
Assess-provides feedback on the question; has the commanders guidance been met? If not then to detect into liver functions of the targeting cycle must continue to focus on the targets involved
Describe how the IPB process supports the four functions of targeting methodology
IPB presents the commander with a picture of adversary or threat model, and the operational environment, which may include neutral or multinational partners
Define a target area of interest
A point line or area on the ground that successful interdiction of which will cause the threats to either abandon a particular COA or require the use of unusual supports to continue along that particular route
