- Large EAB; create 2 anchors (above patella by 0.5” & below tibial tuberosity by 1”).
- Create a ‘V’ around the patella (NOT over it).
- Apply more strips and overlap by 50% each time applying tension upwards.

Q

How do you tape for Plantar Fasciitis?

A

(K-Tape)
- Perimeter of foot from Big Toe around to Pinky Toe.
- Apply strips medially starting by toes.
- Overlap each by ~50%.

8
Q

How should you tape for an Ankle LCL? (maximal level of support)

A
  • Create an anchor at the distal tib/fib.
  • Apply 3/4x stirrups medially to laterally.
  • Apply ‘Figure 6’
  • Apply ‘Figure 8’
8
Q

How should you tape for an Achilles Injury?

A

Position: Prone lying with ankle hanging down over end of bed.
- Apply 2 anchors; middle of the foot and top of the calves.
- Support with a 50% strips method from the foot under the heel and up the leg towards the anchor.
- Lock off at both anchors + the high ankle joint.

8
Q

How should you tape for a Groin Strain?

A

Position: Standing evert the hip & bend knee slightly.
- EAB from medial thigh up and around with the 50% rule until you reach the ASIS then go around to the other ASIS, down the front to the other side and back round the the start.
(very similar to hip spica).

9
Q

How should you tape for an Ankle LCL? (minimal level of support)

A
  • Create an anchor at the distal tib/fib.
  • Apply 3/4x stirrups medially to laterally.
9
Q

How should you tape for Jumper’s Knee?

A

Same as OSD
- Hypafix tape around the tibial tuberosity as an anchor.
- Then tighten around the tib tub with more rigid tape e.g. Zinc

9
Q

How do you tape a blister?

A
  • Apply the blister plaster.
  • Hypafix over it.
9
Q

How should you tape for Osgood-Schlatter Disease (OSD)?

A
  • Hypafix tape around the tibial tuberosity as an anchor.
  • Then tighten around the tib tub with more rigid tape e.g. Zinc
10
Q

How do you tape for generalised wrist taping?

A

Apply EAB tape around the wrist joint and secure it with zinc or sock tape.
OR
A single strip of zinc oxide at the joint.

11
Q
A
11
Q

How do you tape for a Sprained Finger at the MCP joint?

A
  • Create an anchor around the hand just below the knuckles not including the thumb.
  • Starting medially, create a figure 6 around the finger as you would with a thumb spica.
  • Then lock it off at the anchor.
12
Q

How do you tape for Severs / Calcaneal Apophysitis?

A
  • Create an anchor around the high ankle joint.
  • Tape from medial aspect of anchor a figure 6 around the heel and then reverse figure 6 the other way.
13
Q

How would you tape for Sinding-Larsen-Johansson Syndrome (SLJS)?

A

Same as OSD
- Hypafix tape around the tibial tuberosity as an anchor.
- Then tighten around the tib tub with more rigid tape e.g. Zinc

14
Q

How would you tape a shoulder?

A

Position: Standing with hand on hip.
- Create an anchor using Hypafix then Zinc over it from the chest over the shoulder to the scapula.
- Create another anchor at widest point of the biceps whilst it is contracted.
- Apply vertical strips from the bicep to the shoulder.
- Apply strips back to front, then front to back creating an ‘X’ over the shoulder.
- Lock it off with Zinc and more Hypafix.

15
Q

How should you tape for an Medial Patella Glide?

A
  • Hypafix over the patella laterally.
  • place tape on lateral border of patella then apply tension to pull the patella medially before placing it under tension.
(The tape should be pulling the patella medially).
