What are 4 tips with taking body measurements
1) use a reliable tape measure - not one that’s been over stretched
2) try to get a friend to measure you - it’s much easier doing it that way
3) don’t wear to many clothes or your measurements won’t be right
4) have the tape measure smoothly on your body, don’t have it very tightly or the clothing you make or wear will be too small
For most clothes what do you need to measure
Bust/chest, waist and hips
Where do you measure the bust/chest
Around the fullest part
Where do you need to measure your waist
Around the natural waistline
Where do you measure your hips
Around the fullest part. In the dip bit not your hip bones
Where do you measure the nape
From the bone at the bottom of your neck down your back to your waist
What do measure for a skirt or shorts?
Waist to the finish length you want it
What do you measure for the outside arm
You measure your outside arm but with the elbow bent otherwise your sleeves will be too short
For trousers and shorts how to you measure the crotch length
Sit on a hard chair and measure from the chair to the back of your waist
