A major mistake is a mistake that CHANGES THE MEANING OF THE WORD (teachers should not be making this mistake)
What is a minor mistake?
A minor mistake is a mistake in pronunciation that does NOT change the meaning (teachers should not be making this mistake)

What are the 2 categories of the characteristics of letters

- Beautifying the words (that does not change the meaning of the words
If you are teaching and learning Quran, should you use tajweed?
Yes. If you don’t it is considered HARAM.
If you are reciting Quran, and you have great knowledge, and can read well with tajweed, (if you are a professional) do you have to use tajweed?
Yes. If you know how to use tajweed but you don’t use it, it is HARAM.
If you are an average reader (you are not that good, but you are not bad) do you have to read with tajweed?
You should try to. Since you have not perfected your recitation, it is not a sin if you don’t use it.
There are 3 different speeds of reading Quran. What are they?
- At- Tahqeeq
- At-Tadweer
- Al-Hadr
What does At-Tahqeeq mean?
To recite slowly without exaggerating
What does At-Tadweer mean?
To recite at a medium speed
What does Al-Hadr mean
To recite quickly without mixing letter
What is Tarteel?
To apply tajweed to all the letters and knowing where to stop. No matter which speed you are using, you MUST use Tarteel.
If a reader wants to read the Quran, he must begin by saying the Ta’awwuth whether it is from the beginning or the middle of the surah. True or false?

Do you have to say Al-Basmallah at the beginning of every surah?
Yes.
If the reader wants to read from the middle of the surah, does he have a choice of saying al-basmallah?
Yes. You can say it, but you do not have to say it.
There are 4 ways of saying Al-Basmallah and At-Ta’awwuth. What are the 4 ways?
- You can separate all 3
- Separating at-Ta’awwuth from al-Basmallah and joining the first ayah.
- Joining at-Ta’awwuth with basmallah and separating them from the first ayah
