Not too short. Set on low with ring at the end. Raised when in action. Sparsely feathered.
Afghan
Long, rather low set; when measured between thighs reaches up to top of nearest hip bone. Well feathered, carried low in a graceful curve. From level of the hocks, may be sabre- or slightly sickle-shaped but not ringed.. In action, not rising above level of back.
Borzoi
Long, thick at root, tapering and reaching almost to ground. When standing dropped perfectly straight down or curved. Curved when moving, never lifted above line of back. Well covered with hair; on upper side thick and wiry, on under side longer, and towards end a slight fringe is not objectionable. A curl or ring tail undesirable.
Deerhound
Long, set on rather low, strong at root, tapering to point, carried low, slightly curved.
Greyhound
Long and slightly curved, of moderate thickness, and well covered with hair.
Irish Wolfhound
Long, set on low and carried naturally in a curve, well feathered on the underside with long silky hair, not bushy.
Saluki
No feathering. Long, tapering, reaching at least to the hock. When in action carried in a delicate curve not higher then the back.
