(Mababaw = light)
Malalim akong matulog.
I’m a heavy sleeper.
(Malalim = heavy)
Mahina ako sa direksyon.
I have a terrible sense of direction.
(Mahina = weak / bad at something)
Sumobra ka naman sa biro mo.
You went too far in your joke. (Sumobra = exceeded, biro = joke)
Hindi ako kumbinsido.
I’m not sold on the idea. (Kumbinsido = convinced)
Tinatrangkaso ako.
I have the flu.
(Trangkaso = flu)
Huwang kang kontrabida.
Don’t rain on my parade. (Kontrabida = villan / antagonist, huwag = do not)
Magbagong-buhay ka na.
You’d better turn over a new leaf.
(Bago = new, Buhay = life)
Madyo masama ang timpla ko ngyon.
I’m going to be off today.
(Timpla = mixture / blend, medyo = a bit)
Hindi ko kawalan ‘yon.
It’s not my loss.
(Kawalan = loss, iyon = that / it)
Hindi ako puwede, may iba akong lakad.
I can’t make it, I have other plans.
(Hindi puwede = cannot, iba= other)
Ang bagal-bagal ng linggong ‘to.
The week is dragging on.
(Ang bagal-bagal = very slow, linggo = week)
Natrapik ako.
I got caught in traffic.
(Natrapik = caught in traffic)
Nakokonsensiya ako.
I feel guilty.
(Nakokonsensiya = feeling guilty)
Hirap na hirap akong makaalala ng mga pangalan..
I’m terrible at remembering names.
(Hirap na hirap = struggling, makaalala = to be able to remember)
Sunduin mo ako mamaya.
Pick me up later.
(Sunduin = to pick someone up, mamaya = later)
Gagabihin ako nang uwi.
I’ll be home late tonight. (Gagabihin = will be late (at night), uwi = to go home)
Kailangan ko ng matapang na kape.
I need a strong cup of coffee. (Kailangan = I need, matapang = brave / bold / strong)
Sakyan mo na lang.
Just play along with it.
(Sakyan = to ride, lang = just)
Diretsuhin na natin.
Let’s cut to the chase. (Diretsuhin = to be direct, natin = our / us)
Napanood mo na ba ‘yung babong episode?
Have you see the latest episode? (Napanood - watched, bago = new / latest)
Magaling siyang magtanim ng mga halaman.
She has a green thumb. (Magaling = to be good at something, magtanim = to plant)
Kinukumusta niya ako minsan.
He checks in on me sometimes. (Kinukumusta = checking in on someone, minsan = sometimes)
Masanay ka na.
Get used to it.
(Masanay = to get used to something)
Inom tayo minsan.
Let’s grab a drink sometime. Inom = drink,
minsan = sometime)
Tumirik ang kotse ko.
My car broke down.
(Tumirik = bread down / broke down)
Nai-stree ako sa mga kalat.
Clutter stresses me out.
(Nai-stress = stressed out, kalat = clutter / litter /mess)
May pinapanood akong TV series.
I’m binge watching a TV series. (Pinapanood = watching)
Kain tayo sa labas mamayang gabi.
Let’s go out for dinner tonight. (Mamayang gabi = tonight, sa labas = outside)
Kailangan kong mag-grocery paglabas sa trabaho.
I need to get some groceries after work.
(Kailangan =
I need, mag-grocery = to go grocery shopping, paglabas = upon exiting)
Pag-iisipan ko muna.
I’ll think it over.
(Pag-iisipan = to ponder / think over, muna = beforehand)
Kalimutan na natin ‘yon.
Let’s put it behind us.
(Kalimutan -to forget , natin our / us, iyon -= that / it)
Magaling ako sa numbers.
I’m good with numbers. (Magaling = to be good at something, bilang = number).
Magsho-shortcut ako.
I’m taking a shortcut.
(Magsho-shortcut = will take a shortcut)
Nagpaplano akong pumunta sa Japan.
I’m planning a trip to Japan. (Nagpaplano = planning)
Grabe, wala akong masabi.
I’m at a loss for words.
(Masabi = opinion / can be said)
Kailan ka mag-aasawa?
When are you getting married? (Kailan - when, Mag-aasawa = will get married)
Hindi tumunong ang alarm ko.
My alarm didn’t go off.
(Tumunog = rang / made a sound)
Walang kuryente.
The power is out.
(Kuryente = electricity / energy)
Nagdadalawang-isip ako.
I’m having second thoughts.
Mahilig ako sa Italian food.
I love Italian food.
(Mahilig = to be fond of something, pagkain = food)
Mas gusto ko ‘yung nagpaplano nang maaga.
I prefer planning ahead.
(Mas gusto ko = I prefer, nagpaplano = planning, maaga = early)
May appointment ako sa duktor nang alas-dos.
I have a doctor’s appointment at 2 o’clock.
(Alas-dos = 2 o’clock)

I’m going on a diet.
(Magda-diet = will go on a diet)
Patayin mo nga ‘yan; masyadong malakas.
Turn if off; it’s too loud.
(Patayin = kill / turn off, masyado = too much , iyan = that / it, malakas = loud)
Medyo baluktot ang hinliliit ako.
My little finger is slightly crooked.
(Medyo = slightly / quite, hinliliit = little finger, baluktot = crooked)

(Nagtanggal = person who removed something)
Nagtatago siya sa ilalim ng kama.
She’s hiding under the bead. (Nagtatago = hiding, sa ilalim = under)
Tama ka, ‘yan nga ang nasa isip ko.

(Tama = correct, isip = mind)
Kailangan ko nang magpa-change oil.
My car needs an oil change soon.
(Kailangan = need, magpa = (prefix) to have something done, langis = oil).
