A in AWOCA
Ask - ask without threat of enforcement, gives an
Idea of behaviour.
W in AWOCA
Why? - people need to know why you have asked them to do something.
O in AWOCA
Options - Good/bad/good finish on a high, give motivators (time, money, family, reputation).
C in AWOCA
Confirm - confirm their understanding, confirm they understand the consequences, removes “I didn’t understand”.
A in AWOCA
Act - accordingly and using TENR, carry out what you said you would do.

Begin with a low key approach. Be professional. Remain calm, speak clearly and calmly. Listen actively and clearly. Be assertive. Use positive instruction. Explain what your going to do and why.
Describe the three types of people you will deal with in the Police.
People demonstrating co-operative behaviour (law abiding)(do what you as, easy to deal with).
People demonstrating uncooperative behaviour (Difficult)(obstructive, prepared to commit offences).
People demonstrating passive aggressive behaviour (Sneaky)(operate under illusion, least pleasant, untrustworthy).
