Duties and responsibilities of a tactical coxswain
“All coxns shall operate their boats in a professional manner with full knowledge of the consequence of improper or unnecessary maneuver execution. High speed maneuvers and rapid acceleration/deceleration are stressful to the crew and boat. To mitigate risk, a high level of training, proficiency, and consummate professionalism is required.”

The government’s legal power to act

Definition of jurisdiction
The governments power to exercise its legal authority over its persons, vessels, and territories
Coast Guard use of force policy
Only that force reasonably necessary under the circumstances may be used. Force must not be used where assigned duties can be discharged without it. Excessive force shall never be used, however nothing the application of the CG’s use of force policy shall require members to meet force with equal or lesser force.

Command authority over attached forces giving local direction and control of movements or maneuvers necessary to accomplish missions of tasks assigned
Who is TACON and what is their responsibility
TACON: Sector Puget Sound
Responsibility: responsible for oversight of assigned assets as well as providing guidance as needed
Who is OPCON and what is their responsibility?
OPCON: district/area admiral
Responsibility: responsible for developing plans that will use available resources to provide for the protection of an HVA

What is the point of an operational pre brief and debrief?
Designed to present the missions plans to security forces

What is a security zone?
SZ is an area of land, water, or land and water that is so designated by the COTP or District Commander for such times as necessary to prevent damage or injury to any vessels or waterfront facilities; to safeguard ports, harbors, territories, or waters of the US
