CG use of Force Policy
Only that force reasonably necessary under the circumstances shall be used. Force shall not be used where assigned duties can be discharged without it. excessive force shall never be used. However, nothing in the application of the Coast Guard’s use of force policy shall be construed to require personnel to meet force with equal or lesser force.
Define Captain of the Port

Define Target of Interest (TOI)
any contact that poses a possible threat to a law enforcement unit or protected asset.
Vessel posing imminent threat (VPIT)
A vessel whose actions pose an imminent threat of death or serious physical injury to any person.
Operation Pre-brief
presents the missions plans to security forces and all other parties so that everyone has an understanding of how the mission is going to work and everyones particular roles

a way of impoving the efficiency and effectiveness of performance. looks at overall unit performance
