TAB Flashcards
Are TAB and air balancing interchangeable?
No, Air balancing is for comfort in older buildings or after renovations and TAB is for cerification
How to do calculate pressure velocity?
p(total) - p(static) = p(velocity)
What does an Anemometer (velometer) measure?
Measures air flow velocity in FPM or Meter/sec
What does a Balometer measure?
Air volume in CFM, L/sec, Cubic meters/sec
In round duct, how many holes need to be cut for TAB cert?
3 transit holes 60 degrees from each other.
What is face velocity?
The average velocity of air moving across a coil, filter, diffuser, and duct cross section measured at 90 degrees
What is throw?
The horizontal distance that a plume of air leaving a diffuser reaches
before it’s velocity falls to 50 ft./min
What are your standard air conditions?
70F, 0% RH, 0.075 Lb/ft3 @ sea level
In work sheet terminology what is AK Factor?
Area factor- the effective area of the outlet (diffuser) at terminal point
What is the most accepted method of air balancing?
Chicago Proportional Method is the most common choice
What portions of the face area of every duct do we NOT measure?
No air flow measurements should be taken at the centre or edges of the duct.
What are the minimum and maximum number of air measurements that should be taken at
any transit location?
Min of 16 & Max of 64 Air Measurements
What is a key diffuser?
The duct with the least amount of air coming out of it
