When more slits are added at the same slit separation…
A
- Principal maxima maintains the same separation
- Principal maxima becomes much sharper
- The overall amount of light being let thorugh is increased so the pattern increases in intensity

Diffraction grating
A
A grating contains a large number of parallel slits that are equally spaced. Normally etched in glass or plastic, typically about 600 lines per millimeter. Diffraction gratings are used to produce optical spectra.

Thin film interference
A
The condition for observable interference between two sources of light is that the souces are coherent (similar amplitude, same wavelength, and a constant phase difference).
