- Human chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG)
Hormone that promotes growth of uterine mm & blood supply. Increases water retention, adipose tissue and skin darkening. Works with oxytocin to initiate labour.
Estrogen
Hormone that relaxes uterus, walls of BV, walls of stomach, bowels & ligaments (w/ relaxin).
Progesterone
This hormone is produced by ovaries. It relaxes & softens ligaments, cartilage and cervix. It allows for stretch of tissues during pregnancy and facilitates opening of pelvic jts during labour & delivery
Relaxin
This hormone is produced by the hypothalamus, released by pituitary glands. It stimulates uterine contractions and is responsible “let down” reflex during breastfeeding. It creates feelings of calmness & well being.
Oxytocin
