T-Tests and Chi-Squared Tests Flashcards
What are paired and unpaired samples in T-tests?
Paired are matched whereas unpaired are independent
What is a t-test?
Tells you how significance the difference between groups are
What assumptions do you make during a T-test?
Scale of measurement Random sampling Normality of data distribution Adequacy of sample size Equality of variance in standard deviation
What is the chi squared test?
Tests for an association between 2 categorical variables
How does the chi squared test work?
Calculates rocketed frequencies and compares them with the observed ones
If observed frequencies are very different to expected, this provides evidence that there is an association
What does the chi squared test assume?
Large sample size
80% of the frequencies must be greater than 5
How to do a chi squared test?
Always use frequencies
