The repetition of ‘in came’ shows how it is though everyone at the party was like one big happy family

Even his business partners didn’t care about him

He lay, in the dark empty house, with not a man, a woman, or a child
The fear of not being remembered in death for Scrooge - one of the strongest fears in the novella
