what is the muscular system
its responsible for the movement of the human body

3 main functions of the muscular system
- movement, posture and bodily functions
to create movement
the skeletal muscles pull on bones
to maintain bodily function
smooth and cardiac muscle keep heart pumping, digest food, initiate breathing
to maintain good posture
muscle tone allows to stay in upright position

its what we consciously control and think about in order to happen

often called “striated muscle” due to microscopic striped appearance
- it determines posture, responsible for voluntary movement

smooth muscle
found in digestive system and vital organs such as the bladder and blood vessels
- the movement of this muscle is classed at involuntary
cardiac muscle
it is the muscle of the heart.
