Q

How many fuel nozzles are there? Do they all spray at the same time?

A

14 total: 7 on primary manifold, 7 on secondary manifold.
They do not spray at the same time; only primary nozzles spray during start until approximately 35-42%

Q

When does the compressor bleed air relief valve close?

A

As you add power, it progressively closes. At approximately 88-90%, it is fully closed and all inlet/compressor air is being used for cooling and power development.

Q

When would you select Hi Idle on the condition lever?

A

1) after 1st engine start to charge battery with operating generator.
2) short-field landing to reduce spool up time into reverse
3) to keep A/C clutch engaged (right engine only!)

Q

How does the auto-ignition work?

A

A torque switch monitors engine torque.
Ignition Switch - ARM
17% torque switch closes whenever engine torque decreases below approximately 17%. Auto-ignition attempts to re-light a failing engine.

Q

Do the engines have fire protection? How do you test them? What are you testing?

A

Yes.
Test with L and R toggles switches on co-pilot’s sub-panel, left knee. Switch UP to test detectors; switch DOWN to test fire bottles.
You are testing the continuity of the fire detection loop and the continuity of the wiring from the explosive squibs on the fire bottles to the actuating push buttons in the cockpit glare-shield.
