What are the 5WH + H probing questions?
What, When, Where, Who, Why, How.
Define appreciation
The method of problem solving so that all possible factors and alternatives are considered so that you can decide the best course of action to take.
Define Control
- All movement to and from the scene
- All activity in the contained area .
What do you do if their are witnesses?
Locate them, obtain particulars and ask them Probing questions. If appropriate, take statement.
Define Freeze
- Keep the scene in its original state - Nothing is to be touched or moved
Define preserve
- All relevant exhibits
Define - “Decide on action for Offender”
- Warning or reporting, ensure you verify their particulars
- Arresting, make sure you tell them what they are being arrested for, advise caution/rights, where appropriate - conduct prelim search
What do you do when you come across the Victim or Informant?
- Obtain Particulars
- Obtain details of incident using probing questions
- Seek corroboration
Define Ingredients
As well as the actus reus and mens rea, all the separate parts of the offence must be proved. These are known as the ingredients.
