Direct Changeover
Stop using the old system one day and start using the new system the next day
Parallel Changeover
New system is run alongside the old system for a period of time until everyone using it are happy it is working correctly
Advantages and disadvantages of Direct Changeover
Advantages
-Requires fewer resources and is simple if nothing goes wrong
Disadvantages
-Element of risk if hardware and software are cutting edge. Can be disastrous to the business if the system fails
Advantages and disadvantages of Parallel changeover
Advantages
-Used to minimise the risk when introducing a new system. Can compare results to see if it’s working properly.
Disadvantages
-Extra unnecessary work work as it is being done twice which is expensive in people’s time, work and equipment
Tasks completed using Remote Management
- Central backups
- Installing/updating software from a central location
- Logging off inactive users
- Shutting down stations
- Checking correct number of licences being used
- Send instant messages/ pop ups to a users screen
- Check to see if components are failing
- Check to see no unauthorised software is loaded

- Involvement in the development of the system
- Keeping social groups together/working relationships
