What are the 8 stages of the System Lifecycle?
- Feasibility.
- Analysis.
- Design.
- Implementation.
- Testing.
- Training.
- Evaluation.
- Maintenance.
Describe the Feasibility stage.
Interviews to gather info to create/improve the system.
Is it possible? Is there demand?
Describe the Analysis stage.
Identify problems and ideal outcomes.
Make a performance criteria - what do you want it to do?
Describe the Design stage.
Produce a design for inputs and outputs, and a test plan.
Describe the Implementation stage.
Make the thing!
Describe the Testing stage.
Use test data, conduct a test plan from Design phase. Does it work as expected?
Also, fix any issues.
Describe the Training stage.
Prepare staff to use the new system with user guides and training sessions.
Describe the Evaluation stage.
How well does it work? User satisfaction. Set up a schedule for continued evaluation.
Describe the Maintenance stage.
3 stages:
- Corrective - Fix bugs.
- Adaptive - Adapt to new updates/changes.
- Perfective - New features.
Why is the System Lifecycle used?
So that companies don’t miss an integral stage when creating or renewing a product.
