APU Fire Extinguisher Test
APU BOTTLE switch: Hold at TEST position.
-APU SQUIB 1 and APU SQUIB 2 advisory messages on ED2. After 5 seconds, messages disappear and an external APU horn sounds from the aft equipment bay.
APU BOTTLE switch: Release
-Horn sound stops.
-After 5 seconds, EICAS APU SQUIB 1 and APU SQUIB 2 advisory messages return momentarily, then disappear
APU Fire Detection Test
APU switch (fire detection panel) Selected to BOTH
Test switch: Hold at WARN
-Aural warnings: triple chime sound, fire bell sound, “jetpipe overheat” voice
-Glareshield: APU FIRE PUSH red switchlight illuminated, APU BOTTLE ARMED PUSH TO DISCH green switchlight illuminated
-ED1: APU FIRE red warning message
TEST switch: Release
-All indications disappear

Fire Detection Panel
ED1: No FIRE FAIL messages
Loop switches (5) BOTH
TEST switch: Hold at WARN
-Aural warnings: triple chime sound, fire bell sound, “jetpipe overheat” voice
-Glareshield:
>Master warning switchlights: illuminated (red), reset (either one)
>LH ENG FIRE PUSH, RH ENG FIRE PUSH and APU FIRE PUSH switchlights: illuminated (red)
>BOTTLE 1 ARMED PUSH TO DISCH (Left engine), BOTTLE 2 ARMED PUSH TO DISCH (Right engine) and BOTTLE ARMED PUSH TO DISCH (APU) switchlights: illuminated (green)
ED1, 5 warning messages:
>L ENG FIRE, R ENG FIRE, APU FIRE, L JETPIPE OVHT, R JETPIPE OVHT
After a 10 second time delay:
>Master caution switchlights (2): illuminated (amber)
>Single chime, sound
>Master caution switchlights: reset (either one)

Bleed Air Ducts Overheat Detection System Test
DUCT MON rotary switch: Turn to TEST and hold. Note the following indications:
-Aural warnings Triple chime, sound/ “Bleed Air Duct,” voice
-ED1, 5 warning messages
>L 10TH DUCT, R 10TH DUCT, L 14TH DUCT, R 14TH DUCT, ANTI-ICE DUCT
-ED2, advisory message
>DUCT TEST OK
-BLEED AIR PANEL:
>L & R 14TH STAGE switchlights: DUCT FAIL illuminated (red)
>L & R 10TH STAGE switchlights: DUCT FAIL illuminated (red)
-ANTI-ICE panel:
>WING TEST switchlight: DUCT FAIL illuminated (red)
DUCT MON rotary switch: Release
-All bleed air ducts overheat detection system indications removed
Hydraulics Systems Test
EICAS Control Panel (ECP): Select HYD synoptic page AC Motor Pump (ACMP) switches on Hydraulic panel: -1B ON: 3A OFF; 3B ON; 2B ON HYD synoptic page: -Fluid quantities: Normal (45% to 85%) -Reservoir output lines: Green -System Pressures: 3,000 PSI ±200 AC Motor Pumps (ACMP) switches on Hydraulic panel: -1B AUTO: 3A ON; 3B AUTO; 2B AUTO HYD synoptic page: -3A pressure: 3,000 PSI ±200 -Cancel master caution switchlight
Ice Detector Test
ANTI-ICE, DET TEST switch: Select in. Depending upon the actual wing temperature, note one of the following indications:
- ICE caution message and ICE light on
- ICE advisory message on ED2
Stall Test
To ensure a successful test, all items within the following test must have been verified to occur.
CA and FO’s side panels:
-STALL PTCT PUSHER switches: ON
STALL switchlight: Select in. After a few seconds, note:
-ED2, check: CONT IGNITION status message ON
-Start panel, check: CONT switchlight ON (white light)
After a few seconds:
-CA’s and FO’s stick shaker activated (control column vibration)
-CA’s and FO’s STALL switchlight: Flashing (red)
-Stick pusher activated (both control columns move forward)
-EICAS right elevator surface pointer indicates full travel or copilot control column is against forward stop.
Test is complete when:
-Stick pusher: De-activated
-Stall switches: Out
-CA’s and FO’s stick shaker: stop
-CONT, ON: Light Out
-CONT IGNITION status message: Out
EGPWS Test
PULL UP/GND PROX switchlight: Press for less than 2 seconds and release
+Aural Warnings:
-Glideslope
-Whoop, Whoop, sound
-“Windshear, Terrain, Pull Up,” voice
+Check:
-PULL UP light (red) on PULL UP/GND PROX switchlight flashing
-GND PROX light (amber) on PULL UP/ GND PROX switchlight flashing
+ED2 indications:
-GPWS FAIL, WINDSHEAR FAIL, TERRAIN FAIL status messages
+PFD indications:
-WINDSHEAR warning and caution messages
+MFD indications:
-TERRAIN TEST and TERRAIN DISPLAY FAIL messages and terrain display self-test pattern
After a few seconds:
-PULL UP/ GND PROX switchlighs: OFF
-All EGPWS and WINDSHEAR messages removed
-To eliminate terrain display, press RDR/ TERR switch after test is complete
Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) Test
Test button (green): Press and hold in for 5 seconds. -Verify green lamp remains lit.
Main Landing Gear Bay Overheat Test
MLG BAY switch: Hold to OVHT position \+Aural warnings -Triple chime, sound -"Gear Bay Overheat," voice \+ED1: MLG BAY OVHT warning message MLG BAY OVHT switch: Release, message out OVHT TEST switch: Hold in WARN FAIL position \+Aural warning -Single chime, sound \+ED1: MLG OVHT FAIL caution light OVHT TEST switch: Release, message out
TCAS Test
Display Control Panel (on both sides panels):
-Press TFC to obtain TCAS pages on MFD’s
Radio Tuning Unit(RTU):
-TCAS line key: Press (to obtain TCAS main display page)
-TEST line key: Press (to start TCAS test sequence)
CA’s and FO’s PFD, check:
-TRAFFIC message (red) and TCAS TEST message (white) near VSI
-VSI Green pointer, green box, and red arc
MFD, check:
-four targets
-TCAS TEST message (white) on TCAS traffic display page
Aural message:
-“TCAS system test OK.”
PA System Test
Audio Control Panel (ACP): Turn transmit select switch to PA.
Interphone Control Unit: Press in PA switchlight, check for the following indication:
-PA switchlight illuminated (green)
-Transmit test message over cabin speakers by:
>Using headset boom mic and R/T switch on ACP or,
>R/T switch on either crewmember’s control wheel, or
>Use of the hand mic
-Press to test:
>CHIME switch: No light, high/low chime
>CALL switchlight: switchlight illuminated, high/low chime
>EMER switchlight: switchlight illuminated, high/low chime
Return audio control panel transmit select switch to desired position after the PA test is complete
Stab Trim Test/ Aileron and Rudder Trim Check
-STAB TRIM CH1 and MACH TRIM switches__ Press In
Check STAB CH2 INOP status messages
Check channel 1 operation from both stabilizer trim switches in both directions until trim clacker is activated
-FO STAB TRIM DISC SWITCH__ Press
Check STAB TRIM and MACH TRIM caution messages on.
Check stabilizer trim is inoperative
-STAB TRIM, CH2 and MACH TRIM switches__ Press In
Check STAB CH1 INOP status message on.
Check channel 2 operation from both stabilizer trim switches in both directions until trim clacker is activated.
-CAPT. STAB TRIM DISC SWITCH__ Press
Check STAB TRIM and MACH TRIM caution messages on.
Check stabilizer trim is inoperative
-STAB TRIM, CH1 AND CH2 switches__ Press In
Check STAB CH1 INOP and STAB CH2 INOP status message out.
-MACH TRIM switch__ Press In
Check MACH TRIM caution message out
AIL and RUD trims__ Select
Verify free movement to outside of the green band in both directions and then set to neutral.
Anti-Skid Test
PARKING BRAKE: OFF
ANTI-SKID TEST switch: Hold at TEST position
- ED1 A/SKID INBD and A/SKID OUTBD caution messages
ANTI-SKID TEST switch: Release
-After 6 seconds the messages disappear
PARKING BRAKE: ON
-ED2, check advisory message: PARKING BRAKE ON
Fuel Check Value Test
With the left engine stabilizer and before starting the right engine:
Check valve operational check__ Complete
-L & R Boost Pumps: OFF, and
-R Fuel LO PRESS caution message.
NOTE: If the message does not appear, the right engine may be dry-motored for up to 30 seconds to reduce residual fuel pressure. If this does not result in illumination of the R FUEL LO PRESS message, the check valve has failed.
-L & R Boost Pumps: ON, and
-FUEL LO PRESS caution messages out
Wing & Cowl
Cowl anti-ice to ON and checks:
-ITT increase on both engines
-Left and Right COWL A/ICE caution messages do come on
After the check is complete, select the cowl anti-ice OFF
ANTI-ICE WING to NORM and checks:
-Both engines’ ITT increase
-N2 gauges arcs 0 to 77.9% change color from green to amber to increase wing anti-ice mode is selected
-WING A/ICE ON advisory message on
Continue to 14th Stage Isolation Valve Test
Continue to 14th Stage Isolation Valve Test
Press in 14TH STAGE ISOL switchlight and check:
-Bleed Air panel: ISOL OPEN switchlight illuminated
-ED2: 14TH ISOL OPEN status message
Press out 14TH STAGE ISOL switchlight and check:
-Bleed Air panel: ISOL OPEN switchlight extinguished
-ED2: 14TH ISOL OPEN status message removed
ANTI-ICE, WING switch: OFF
-Both engines ITT decrease
-N2 gauges amber arcs change to green
-WING A/ICE ON advisory message off
APR Test
Selects on the ENGINE CONTROL panel the APR Test switches to position 1 and 2, in each position checking: -N1 gauges: green APR icons -ED2: APR TEST 1, 2 OK advisory messages When test is completed: APR switch: ARM
Fuel Check Valve Test (First shutdown of the day)
With both engines running, L & R boost pumps: OFF
Left engine: shutdown
-L FUEL LO PRESS caution message
NOTE: If the message does not appear, the left engine may be dry-motored for up to 30 seconds to reduce residual fuel pressure. If this does not result in illumination of the L FUEL LO PRESS message, the check valve has failed.
