What is a simple sentence?
A sentence that only contains one clause that has a subject and a predicate.
What is a compound sentence?
A sentence that contains two or more clauses which are either joined by a coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS) with a comma, a semicolon, or by a semicolon with a conjunctive adverb
What is a complex sentence?
A sentence that contains two or more clauses that are joined by subordinating conjunctions or a relative pronoun
What is a compound-complex sentence?
A sentence that contains three or more clauses where the clauses are joined by a:
-subordinating conjunction or relative pronoun
-and a coordinating conjunction or semicolon, or semicolon with a conjunctive adverb
What is a loose sentence?
a sentence where the main clause is found at the beginning of the sentence
What is a periodic sentence?
A sentence where the main claus is found at the ending or towards the ending of a sentence
What is a balanced sentence?
A sentence where the structure is balanced
What is an inverted sentence?
A sentence where the predicate comes before the subject instead of the other way around.
