What is a synovial joint?
where two or more bones meet also located at articulating joints
What is a tendon?
Connects muscle to bone (example: Achilles)
What is the Bursae?
a sac filled with liquid to stop friction between tendon and bone
What is cartilage?
a type of flexible connective tisssue
What is a ligament?
Connects bone to bone
What is synovial fluid?
slippery lubricant in joint cavity
What is the synovial membrane?
Connective tissue membrane lining joints, produces synovial (oily) fluid
What is a joint capsule?
tissue that stops synovial fluid from escaping and encloses and supports and holds the bones together.
what is Flexion
Decrease in the angle of bones at a joint
what is extension
Straightening of a joint
what is adduction
Movement toward the midline of the body
what is abduction
Movement away from the midline of the body
what is dorsiflexsion
movement that bends the foot upward at the ankle
what is planterflexion
Ankle movement pointing the foot downward
what is rotation
Turning a limb along its long axis

Movement when a limb is held straight and is moved as if to draw circles with the hand,bowling
