Synovial joints Flashcards
What are the 6 types of synovial joints?
- plane/gliding
- saddle
- hinge
- pivot
- ball-and-socket
- ellipsoid
What is the role of the tendons?
fibrous connective tissue which attaches muscle to bone
What is the role of the cartilage?
flexible connective tissue that keeps joint motion fluid by coating the surfaces of the bones in our joints and by cushioning bones against impact
What is the role of synovial fluid?
a thick liquid between your joints, the fluid cushions the ends of the bones and reduces friction when you move
What is the role of the ligaments?
joins bone to bone, very strong and flexible
What is the role of synovial membrane?
a layer of connective tissue that lines the cavities of joints, tendon sheaths and bursae
The synovial membrane makes and releases synovial fluid
