Otherwise known as Major depressive disorder or clinical depression, unipolar depression is characterised by what symptoms?
Varying degrees of sadness, disappointment, loneliness, hopelessness and guilt. It is also characterised by difficulty concentrating, insomnia, change in weight and sex drive, irritability.
Who is effected by Depression?
It is a common mental disorder, affecting 3.5 million people in the UK. The peak ages are 50/60, but any ages can suffer from it. People who suffer from it may live shorter lives.
Which gender is more likely to be diagnosed?
Women are more two/three times likely to be diagnosed. However, this may be due to societal norms, suppressing male emotions.
