Symbols
Objects, places, events, or characters that have meaning and significance beyond their physical form
Allegory
An entire literary work in which abstract ideas appear as a symbol in concrete and recognize them more easily
Archetypes
A cultural symbol that has become universally understood and recognized
Second-person Point of View
Some stories told uses 2nd POV pronouns, such as “you”. This casts the reader as a character in the story
First-person Point of View
Told by the narrator who is a character in the story and who refers to them-self as “I”
Third-person Point of View
Uses pronouns such as “he, she, they, them, he, it”. Have a perspective that keeps them at a distance and prevents them from playing a role in the story’s plot
Omniscient
All-knowing
Limited Omniscient Narrators
Only know and relate what one major minor character thinks and feels
Omniscient Narrator
Shares what all characters think and feel instead of limiting the narrator’s perspective to just one character
