Why does it happen in sows?
A
- sex hormone levels lead to prolapse after estrus
- leaning on bars in farrowing crates - pressure creates poor circulation and relaxation of the sphincter
- too short of tail docking leads to damaged nerve supply to anal ring

- straining from diarrhea/constipation
- colitis/gas pressure
