Throw bag techniques?
45/45- deploy upstream then recoil and deploy down stream
Shotgun- coils half before any throws take place.
Deploy coiled half, if unsuccessful reply bag
What’s an Eddie?
Areas downstream of an obstacle. The water is calmer and often flow back upstream due to the fixed obstacle
Strainer?
A fixed obstacle underwater that allows water to flow through.
Dangerous- potential for snag
Stopper?
Vertical reversal of water formed when there is a vertical drop of water steeply over rock, wall or other formation
Standing waves?
Pressure waves?
Haystack waves?
Standing- water flowing over a fixed object causing waves
Pressure- pressure waves found at the bottom of downstream V where fast moving water meets slow moving water
Haystack waves- high speed, velocity situations. Fast moving water hits an obstacle
Carabiners
Alloy used for?
Steel used for?
Alloy suited for swift water use and float rope
Steel locking D carabiners used with rescue line. Is stronger and heavier.
