coude vs tieman tip catheter
What is the difference between Coude Tip and Tieman Catheters?
The Coudé tip catheter has a curved tip like the Tiemann catheter but has one or two drainage eyes situated in the curved tip.
What are the different materials catheters are made of
Latex PTFE/Teflon coated latex catheters Silicon coated latex catheters Silicone (100% silicone) Hydrogel coated Silver-hydrogel coated catheters made of latex or silicone Nitrofurazone-coated catheter
How is catheter size measured?
The French size is three times the diameter in millimeters. Thus, the French size is roughly equivalent to the circumference of a circular catheter; the true circumference being slightly larger (circumference = diameter * π where π is approximately 3.14).
A round catheter of 1 French has an external diameter of 1⁄3 mm,[2] and therefore the diameter of a round catheter in millimetres can be determined by dividing the French size by 3:
1 mm = 3 Fr
1 Fr = 1/3 mm
For example, if the French size is 9, the diameter is 9/3 = 3.0; mm.
