What is sustainable development?

A

Taking enough resources to satisfy our needs but leaving more for the future, eg. fishing quotas so there is enough fish left to breed, or replanting woods.

Q

What does an increasing population mean for sustainable development?

A

It is crucial now because:

  • Alternative energy supplies will be needed for when fossil fuels run out.
  • Increasing food demands
  • As more people will need more resources, sustainable development will ensure the survival of endangered species
