What is the safe person concept
Individuals are responsible for their own health and safety and the health and safety of colleagues

A risk assessment conducted on the day due to changing environmental circumstances

Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
What did the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 enforce on employers
A duty to ensure health, safety and well-being of employees and other affected persons is not at risk, so far as is reasonably practicable

Something that could potentially cause harm
What is a risk
The potential of harm being realised
What is a risk assessment?
Assessment of risk and the likelihood of it being realised also how that risk can be mitigated

1) Identify
2) Analyse who and how
3) Evaluate risks and decide on precautions
4) Implement
5) Review
6) Inform all those affected of the outcome of the assessment and methods of work, or other control measures necessary, to minimise or eliminate risk
What are some diseases caused by asbestos
Forms of cancer and impaired lung function
Where are you likely to find asbestos
Most common in pre 2000’s properties due to it being made illegal after that period. It is typically found in spray coating, insulation and tiles or panelling. It is best to ask for an asbestos register in commercial properties
