What are Knowledge Questions
Researchers are interested in what people know about a specific topic however often people are not well-informed or are not knowledgeable about the topic
What are Social desirability questions?
Bias, the respondents try to present a good image by adhering to social norms
Closed-ended questions
Question and present respondents with fixed responses from which to choose
Open-ended questions
Question in which respondent can give any answer
Quasi-filter
Questions offer a “dont know” option
Full-filter questions
asks respondents if they have an opinion then asks those who have an opinion what it is
What are order effects?
An effect in which respondents hear some questions others and the earlier questions affect their answers to later questions
What are two ways to overcome context effects?
Funnel sequence - ask general questions rather than specific ones
Divide the sample in half and give half of the questions in one order and the other half in the alternative order
What are sponsors
People like to see the survey is from a legitimate organization
Issues are privacy, confidentiality
What is the probe stage of an interview?
Neutral requests to clarify ambiguous answers to complete incomplete answers, or to obtain a relevant response
