Kulendra VCOT 2019
Retrospective study
12 dogs
75% success
17% complication - all comminuted
Tropel JVIM 2021
Retrospective study 175 dogs, 51 cats traumatic brachial plexus
50% <2yo, 60% >20kg
Radial compound muscle action potential (CMAP) amplitude 93% spec to predict recovery (EMG predicts px)
Phipps VS 2023
Retrospective
12 dogs arthrodesis using 2 LCPs
Objective analysis
No major complications
Good outcomes, low morbidity
Lane JAVMA 2024
Surgeon vs rehab therapist on biceps tenosynovitis
Tx consensus
-Sx should not be primary approach when biceps tendon is healthy or if fibre tearing <20%
-Where biceps is >75% torn, sx is the best initial tx
-NSAIDs for short term pain but not indicated in chronic cases
-Intra-articular steroids not for long term use
-Intratendinous steroids not recommended
-PRP may be useful, lack of evidence
-Cage rest discourage
-Use multimodal conservative tx
-ESWT, regenerative medicine, photobiomodulation should be considered
-Insufficient evidence to recommend therapeutic U/S, pulsed electric field therapy, acupuncture
