Q

Lane JAVMA 2024

Surgeon vs rehab therapist on biceps tenosynovitis
Tx consensus

A

-Sx should not be primary approach when biceps tendon is healthy or if fibre tearing <20%
-Where biceps is >75% torn, sx is the best initial tx
-NSAIDs for short term pain but not indicated in chronic cases
-Intra-articular steroids not for long term use
-Intratendinous steroids not recommended
-PRP may be useful, lack of evidence
-Cage rest discourage
-Use multimodal conservative tx
-ESWT, regenerative medicine, photobiomodulation should be considered
-Insufficient evidence to recommend therapeutic U/S, pulsed electric field therapy, acupuncture
