Supporting Organisations Flashcards
People’s Association
PA offers a wide range of programmes to cater to Singaporeans from all walks of life - connecting people to people, and people and government. They offer community activities to raise the level of understanding amongst neighbours of different races + arts and cultural programmes to showcase and celebrate Singapore’s rich multicultural heritage.
–> The Residents’ Committees (RCs) were introduced in 1978 to promote neighbourliness, racial harmony and community cohesiveness amongst residents within their respective RC zones in Housing and Development Board estates. Run by residents for residents, RCs also work closely with other grassroots organisations like the Citizens’ Consultative Committees and various government agencies to improve the physical environment and safety of their respective precincts.
OnePeople.sg
OnePeople.sg aims to facilitate a deeper understanding of race relations. Their youth-driven initiatives foster an appreciation for diversity and nurture cross-cultural exchanges. They provide a conducive environment for youths from different cultural backgrounds to learn about diversity, dialogue, build friendships and lead racial harmony efforts. Their programmes are tailored towards gearing their stakeholders to better understand issues, trends and developments concerning community integration. They provide capacity-building programmes in areas such as religious diversity, conflict resolution, ground sensing and new media engagement to enhance ground efforts.
