Define planning buckets
Supply planning can plan in buckets/chunks of time. ie. day, week, period. Demand and supplies are balanced at the end of each supply planning bucked.
Define forecast processing
Adjusts forecasts from demand planning for supply planning, so that you have supply at the right time, right qty, and right products. (planning buckets, forecast consumption, forecast explosion)
Backward Scheduling and Order Dates
Unconstrained planning performs backward scheduling of supplies. Supply is due on the date of the end demand.
Requirements Explosion for Make Items
Planning explodes requirements for make items using the work definition
Define Resource Utilization
Resource efficiency and utilization are supported in planning. Efficiency measures the actual to standard output expected. Utilization measures how intensively a resource is utilized. Resource availability is collected from MFG calendar and shifts.
Scheduling buy orders
This section talks about buy planned orders which csi calls po planned orders. Supply planning supports the calculation of daily supplier capacity utilizatinon.
Interorganization Transfers
You can use inventory management to create transfers between orgs. Planning suggests new planned interorg transfers
Planning Time Fence
PTF defines a time period within which Planning considers the schedule to be frozen. No new planned orders can be created within the PTF. However, planning can reschedule out or cancel supplies inside the PTF.
Reservations
Reservations are collected from Inv Management. SO’s can be reserved to On-hand inv., WO’s, PO’s, TO’s. Multiple demand reservations to a single supply are allowed. Multiple supply reservations to a single demand are allowed. Planning cannot break reservations.
Safety Stock Planning
Supply planning has a number of ways of calculating Safety Stock.
