A

Form of federal SMJ.
Instead of getting cases into federal court, it gets CLAIMS into a federal case, even though the claim cannot use diversity of citizenship or FQ SMJ

Common Nucleus Test

A

Additional claim must share a “common nucleus of operative fact” with the claim that has SMJ.

Test ALWAYS met when it arises from the same transaction or occurence. But it’s broader than that.

Diversity Limitation (and exception)

A

In diversity cases, claims by PLAINTIFFS generally cannot invoke supplemental jurisdiction

EXCEPTION: multiple plaintiffs, state law tort claim can’t get in because under 75k
