N: dorsal scapular nerve C5; C3-C4
A: elevates scapula; rotates glenoid cavity.
Trapezius
O: external occipital protuberance, superior nuchal line, ligamentum nuchal, spines C7-T12
I: spine of scapula, acromion, and lateral third of clavicle.
N: spinal accessory nerve, C3-C4.
Rhomboid minor
O: spines of C7-T1
I: root of spine of scapula.
N: dorsal scapular nerve (C5)
A: adducts scapula
Rhomboid major
O: spines T2-T5
I: medial border of scapula
N: dorsal scapular nerve (C5)
A: adducts scapula
Latissimus dorsi
O: spines of T7-T12, thoradorsal facia, iliac crest, ribs 9-12.
I: floor of bicipital groove of humerus.
N: thoracodorsal nerve.
A: adducts, extends and rotates arm medialy; depresses scapula.
Serratus posterior-superior
O: ligamentum nuchae, supraspinal ligament, and spines of C7-T3.
I: upper border of ribs 2-5.
N: intercostal nerve.
A: elevation of ribs.
Serrated posterior-inferior
O: supraspinatus ligament and spines of T11-L2.
I: lower border of ribs 9-12.
N: intercostal nerve T9-T12.
A: depresses ribs.
