Scapula elevation, depression, and retraction
Latissimus Dorsi:
Origin:
- Spinous processes of the lumber and lower thoracic vertebrae
- Sacrum
Insertion:
- Bicipital groove of the humerus
Function:
- Arm extension
- Arm adduction
- Medial rotation of the arm
Levator Scapulae:
Origin:
- C1-C4 of the transverse processes
Insertion:
- Medial border of scapula (superior to the scapular spine)
Function:
Elevate scapula
Rhomboid Minor & Major:
Origin:
- C7-T5 spinous processes
Insertion:
Medial Border of Scapula
Function:
Scapula retraction
NOTE: Rhomboid MINOR is SUPERIOR to major
