Insertion: mastoid process and lateral 1/3 of superior nuchal line

Innervation: dorsal rami of middle cervical nerves

Blood Supply: descending branch of occipital artery and deep cervical artery

Action: bilaterally - extends head, unilaterally - laterally flex and rotates face to same side

Origin: spinous processes of T3-T6

Insertion: transverse processes of C1-C3

Innervation: dorsal rami of lower cervical nerves

Blood Supply: descending branch of occipital artery and deep cervical artery

Action: bilaterally - extend neck, unilaterally - laterally bends and rotates neck toward same side
