Trapezius innervation
CN XI - Accessory nerve
Supraspinatus and infraspinatous innervation
Suprascapular nerve
Teres minor and deltoid innervation
Axillary nerve
Rhomboid major and minor innervation
Dorsal scapular nerve
Levator scapulae innervation
Dorsal scapular nerve
Latissimus dorsi innervation
Thoracodorsal nerve
Teres major innervation
Lower subscapular nerve
Serratus anterior innervation
Long thoracic nerve
Note: if nerve is damaged, winged scapula results
What muscles make up the rotator cuff?
SITS: Supraspinatous Infraspinatous Teres minor Subscapularis
What is the neurovascular bundle composed of?
Artery, vein, nerve
What is the function of the rhomboid muscles?
Retract the scapula and rotate it to depress the glenoid cavity.
What is the triangle of auscultation?
Triangle formed by the trapezius, scapula (medial border), and latissimus dorsi.
Good for listening to the lungs.
What is an important function of the deltoid muscle?
Abductor of the upper extremity.
What are the boundaries of the quadrilateral/quadrangular space?
Superior: teres minor
Inferior: Teres major
Medial: long head triceps
Lateral: humerus
*axillary nerve and posterior circumflex vessels pass thru this space
